why is it important to plan personal development, what are the benefits?
Because you need goals to reach them or to go further than others. If you don’t plan what you want to do, where you want to be in the future or what you want to achieve, personally or otherwise, then what is there to aim for? I think most people have some sort of a plan, even if it’s just mentally and not a documented plan - a lot of times people have plans without realising. But if you don’t plan, how do you think you can motivate yourself? I’m doubt one could go on in life robotically or on automatically and call that development as surely that would be more stagnating? and wouldn’t you, at some stage, ask your self…. for why?
Benefits? - self satisfaction, sense of acheivement, gain more experiences, gain knowledge along the way and sometimes there’s financial gain. It also expands your personality, gives you direction and shows motivation….
God….I do hope we are talking about the same personal development. I’d be really embarressed if it was some specific term I wasn’t aware of!

Its a good way to find out what your goals are and how achievable they are! By planning you can work out the ways to get to your goal and tick them off as you achieve them. When you look back at what you have achieved it will give you a positive feeling! Make sure you give yourself achievable target dates too. Once you have reached your goal give yourself a pat on the back and make a new plan for your next goal!!!

Let me give youa metaphor.
It’s the distance between saying, "Let’s get in the car and drive somewhere," and "Let’s get in the car and drive to Boston."
Planning gives you a target to aim for, instead of wandering on the road.
Good luck!
